ASAKE EMERGES BEST AFRICAN MUSIC ACT AT THE 26th MOBO AWARDS
The MOBO Awards is an annual British music award presentation honoring achievements in “music of Black origin”, including hip-hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
Having lost the Best African Music Performance Award at the Grammys to a talented singer from South Africa by the name Tyla, Ahmed Ololade popularly known as ASAKE the Nigerian Afrobeat singer, lyricist, and live performer gracefully added to his awards collection by winning the Best African Act award at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, UK.

Asake outshone other artists at the 26th edition of the annual award, including Tyla, BurnaBoy, Davido, Ayra Starr, Libianca, Adekunle Gold, Wizkid, Rema, and Uncle Waffles. The awards are a meaningful acknowledgment of black artists and their contribution to the music scene.
He has enjoyed huge commercial success through a string of hit releases and 2 albums that rocked him to superstar status after the megastar broke into the mainstream with his hit single ‘OmoOpe’ in 2022.

At the awards show, it wasn’t just Asake who triumphed for Nigeria. Gospel singer Samuel Onwubiko, aka Limoblaze, also nabbed the Best Gospel Act award.
