Celebrating 15 Years of Fashion, Heritage, and Womanhood: Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s “The Loop in Time: The Retrospective

What does fifteen years of excellence in African fashion look like? It manifests as silk molded into strength, Ankara tailored into confidence, and intricate drapery that narrates the rich stories of womanhood, heritage, and personal evolution.

This October, the visionary fashion designer Ejiro Amos Tafiri invites us to experience “The Loop in Time: The Retrospective,” a poignant exhibition and installation commemorating fifteen remarkable years of her brand. From October 29 to November 2, 2025, the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos will be transformed into a vibrant archive of style, culture, and identity, an ode to artistry, heritage, and the journey of evolution.

“The Loop in Time” transcends the conventional boundaries of a fashion exhibition; it is an immersive narrative—a story expressed through fabric, form, and emotion. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to traverse Ejiro Amos Tafiri’s creative evolution, from her early drapery experiments to the global accolades that have earned her the esteemed title of “Nigeria’s Drape Queen.”

“Every collection has been a chapter of my life,” Tafiri reflects. “Fashion, for me, is a bridge between worlds—between who we are and who we’re becoming. This retrospective honours that loop, showcasing how culture, craftsmanship, and courage can converge to create something timeless.”

Celebrating the Past, Empowering the Future

The celebration of this 15th anniversary extends beyond the retrospective itself. On October 28, a thought-leadership platform titled “Fashioning a Legacy in Time” will bring together emerging designers, industry experts, and creatives to discuss the future of African fashion, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and the importance of legacy. Additionally, a Young Designers Grant Competition will empower the next generation of Nigerian fashion talent with N5 million worth of professional equipment.

The grand finale on November 2 will feature the Spring/Summer 2026 runway show, “Ode to a Rich African Heritage,” showcasing E.A.T.’s latest collection—a modern tribute to African elegance and sustainable luxury, culminating in a poetic close to Lagos Fashion Week.

Since its inception in 2010, Ejiro Amos Tafiri (E.A.T.) has redefined Afro-cosmopolitan luxury by blending indigenous techniques with contemporary design. Her work, characterised by what she describes as “Complex Simplicity,” has not only reimagined traditional garments like the iro and buba into the iconic Oleku silhouette, but has also achieved global recognition through showcases at prestigious events such as Shanghai Fashion Week and FIMO Togo.

With features in major publications including CNN, Al Jazeera, Elle, and Marie Claire, along with collaborations with brands like Samsung and MAC Cosmetics, Tafiri exemplifies the seamless fusion of artistry and global appeal. “Every drape tells a story,” she states. “Our fabrics carry memory. Our stitches carry identity. This anniversary is not just about fashion; it’s about the women who have inspired it, the artisans who have built it, and the culture that sustains it.”

An Invitation to Experience Legacy

“The Loop in Time” is not merely a retrospective; it is an invitation to look forward into the next chapter of African luxury. It stands as a love letter to Lagos, to Nigerian craftsmanship, and to the women who continue to redefine elegance in their everyday lives.

Join Ejiro Amos Tafiri in celebrating 15 years of artistry, resilience, and reinvention. Come walk through time and witness the evolution of African fashion and the exciting future that lies ahead.
