Fashions Finest – continuing to provide a sustainable and accessible platform for emerging brands at LFW

Fashions Finest’s runway show during London Fashion Week arrived at its 15th
anniversary with a celebration of multiculturalism at its best. The biannual event brought together, on Saturday, February 17th, independent talents and students to manifest their style under the sign of sustainability.

In the intimate, glistening venue of St John’s in Hyde Park, Fashions Finest presented their Autumn/Winter 2024 runway show, an unmissable event for industry insiders, influencers and fashion students alike. Twice a year, the show marks the busy London Fashion Week with a unique showcase of diverse woven storytelling.

Fashions Finest’s support toward emerging talents and sustainable approaches shaped a show with vibes and flavours from across the globe. Independent fashion designers have the chance every year to put their creations under the attention of buyers and editors, amplifying their original concepts.
The A/W24 Fashions Finest had the pleasure of presenting designers from the UK and overseas, including Canada, Africa and the Middle East, and spectacular comebacks.

Tuncer Tonun, winner of the 2019 Britain’s Top Designer Award, hosted by Fashions Finest, came back to open the show. Known for his ethnic, theatrical and eco-conscious style, the Turkish designer mesmerised the public with his powerful message and echoes of his homeland.

With Cambrensis, functional and casualwear saw the lights of the catwalk. Inspired by and founded in Wales by loan Bowen-Pickett, the brand produces garments in small batches with sustainably sourced textiles and pigments.

Shokushu Boutique came back with their A/W24 collection ‘Under the Sign of the
Moon’, inspired by the designer’s PhD research in sixteenth-century French queens. The West-meet-East label using responsible latex for their playful and irreverent creations, centred this season around the symbolism of the moon – the sacred and the dark.

Nicoletta Boutique celebrated the marriage of Italian elegance with the patterns of her Nigerian-Igbo heritage, magnifying the beauty within each and every woman.

Londoner milliner Victoria Charles Headpieces caught the audience’s attention with hues and textures in timeless and graceful masterpieces

Farzaneh Jahangard, the founder of Vancouver-based Maison Fefe Couture, concluded the runway with ‘Fluttering Change’, a collection inspired by butterflies’ metamorphosis. Sharp and rounded lines resemble the cocoon and, with it, the beauty and hope of transformations.

This year, Fashions Finest collaborated with creative clothing and merchandise expert Wild Thang and City of Liverpool College to open the London Fashion Week experience to the design students from The City of Liverpool College. The students had previously competed by creating a unique sustainable garment to win the incredible opportunity to present their creations during Fashion Week. After the core of the show, Wild Thangs MD Andrew Dwerryhouse announced the young winner and runner-up: Anna Gerrard-Longworth and Freya Duncan.

Fashions Finest reserved a privileged spot in the event for independent jewellery makers and
fashion designers to exhibit their brands. This year’s exhibitors were DOLA by Eytemi Adenyi and Massassi B by Iyabo Ademosu. DOLA fuses modern chic and Yoruba heritage in luxurious jewellery and made-to-order pieces; Massassi B finds their roots in West Africa and brings them to everyday lifestyle with ethical dresses, jewellery and accessories.

Over 3 days of shows Fashions Finest also had the pleasure of organising shows for more established brands AMYLYNN and Goose Island and concluded with Fashion house Oh Polly. Fashions Finest would like to thank the Mayor of London for the support, and this year’s partners: AOFM, Propress, Gordon Glenister, Home Grown and Wild Thang, all the participants and the audience who attended this season’s show.
Fashions Finest’s event at London Fashion Week will be back in September 2024 with the S/S25 showcase. Applications are now open online (link to https://www.fashionsfinest.com/apply-to-showcase-during-london-fashion-week).
