Joseph Ejiro Presents “Obrọkpe rhiẹ ode (Homecoming)” — Fall/Winter 2025 Collection

Luxury fashion house Joseph Ejiro has unveiled its highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2025 collection, “Obrọkpe rhiẹ ode (Homecoming).” This collection is a sculptural and emotive exploration of identity, belonging, and cultural lineage, profoundly rooted in the designer’s Nigerian heritage.

“Homecoming” serves as both a celebration and a dialogue between past and present, inviting viewers to rediscover themselves through the lenses of architecture, craftsmanship, and memory. The collection strikingly highlights the dualities inherent in life and culture: the ceremonial and the intimate, the regal and the maternal, the structured and the fluid.

Creative Director Joseph (Ejiro) Enright articulates the essence of the collection: “This collection is a conversation between strength and tenderness. It’s about how culture lives in us, in gestures, in movement, in the act of creating and protecting. It is a homecoming in the truest sense, an embrace of where I come from and who I am becoming.”

A Dialogue Between Heritage and Modernity

The phrase “Obrọkpe rhiẹ ode,” which translates to ‘homecoming,’ weaves through each silhouette, encapsulating a journey back to one’s roots. Architectural shoulders, inspired by traditional Igbo ceremonial dress, harmoniously contrast with fluid, draped bodies that echo the soft folds of a mother’s wrapper. The collection employs voluminous layering and knot-wrap techniques as metaphors for protection, identity, and connection, with each look appearing to be suspended in motion, caught delicately between stillness and transformation.

Craft as Cultural Expression

Every garment within “Homecoming” embodies couture craftsmanship deeply grounded in storytelling. Intricate beadwork and tasselled details pay homage to Yoruba court artistry, while coiled basketry and weaving are reimagined through structured drapery and sculpted folds. The interplay of volume, curvature, and texture evokes a dual spirit of strength and grace, translating West African craft traditions into a contemporary, global couture vocabulary.

Collection Highlights

  • Architectural silhouettes with regal shoulders and sculpted volumes balanced by fluid drapery.

  • Layered knot and fold techniques evoking maternal gestures and ancestral protection.

  • Artisanal textural finishes referencing traditional Yoruba beadwork, Adudu basketry.

  • A muted, refined palette of rose, ivory, bronze, and earthen tones that let the structure, not colour, tell the story.
