Lucky Idike Jr.: The Numbers Man Putting Culture on the Global Menu
Before Afro Flavour, before Flavours of Africa drew thousands from across continents, Lucky Idike Jr. was already quietly building a reputation for excellence. A graduate of King’s College Lagos and the University of Lagos, Lucky’s early career was defined by sharp financial insight and strategic leadership. As a chartered accountant and the Chief Consulting Partner at a leading firm, he was known for bringing structure, clarity, and vision to complex business landscapes. But beyond the spreadsheets and audits, Lucky had always been deeply attuned to something numbers alone couldn’t measure: the richness of African culture, and the hunger (quite literally) for it to be seen, shared, and celebrated across the world.
That passion took tangible form in Afro Flavour, the platform he founded to spotlight African creativity through food, music, fashion, art, and cultural exchange. What began as a concept quickly grew into a full fledged movement, now with events hosted across ten African countries, a growing diaspora fanbase, and a mission rooted in visibility, authenticity, and empowerment. For Lucky, it was never just about hosting food festivals. It was about building bridges, connecting African SMEs to global markets, helping chefs become cultural diplomats, and showing the world that Africa has always had flavour. It just needed a louder mic.
That mic gets amplified again this month as Flavours of Africa returns to Lagos on June 21st. In partnership with the South African Consulate, the event promises an immersive evening of authentic South African cuisine, live cooking by a guest chef, curated drink pairings, dance, music, art, fashion, and a craft market. Held at the vibrant Fired & Iced Outdoor Lounge in Lekki Phase 1, this year’s edition blends entertainment with elevation, a full sensory experience built on Lucky’s belief that African culture, when packaged with care and excellence, doesn’t just attract interest, it inspires reverence.
At the core of Afro Flavour is a dedication to community and storytelling. Whether through its advocacy for Nigerian gastrodiplomacy, trade focused initiatives like the African Export Pavilion, or its celebration of contemporary African lifestyle, Lucky’s leadership has turned Afro Flavour into more than an event brand. It’s now a global cultural platform. His ability to merge deep business judgement with cultural vision is what makes Afro Flavour thrive and why Flavours of Africa has become a must attend celebration for both insiders and explorers alike.
This year, FashionEVO is proud to be a media partner for Flavours of Africa, a collaboration grounded in shared values: cultural storytelling, excellence, and innovation. Together, we aim to capture the energy, elegance, and essence of African creativity in all its forms, one delicious, dance filled, and design forward moment at a time.
