Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN) x Fashion Scout: “Anthology of African Stories – The People. The Land. The Heritage”

Unity in Design Global Network (UDGN) proudly presents “Anthology of African Stories – The People. The Land. The Heritage” at London Fashion Week 2026. This immersive presentation brings together three African designers: Twin by Tare,

Tayameaca, and Jermaine Bleu, each offering a distinct, personal narrative through fashion.

Rather than presenting Africa as a single narrative, this project celebrates its complexity, specificity, and individuality through the three pillars: The People, ThLand, and The Heritage.

TWIN BY TARE ISAAC

The People – ASIN KAI MI (Twin by Tare, “In My Blood”)

This collection revisits traditional Ijaw weddings, exploring the role of dress in marking family, union, and cultural continuity. Inspired by old family photographs, the collection reimagines ceremonial garments worn during Ijaw marriage rites.

The George Wrapper, a fabric passed through generations, is central to the work, anchoring contemporary silhouettes, layered construction, hand beadwork and refined tailoring in cultural continuity rather than nostalgia.

TAYAMEACA

The Land – SAFARI (Tayameaca, “A Living Archive”)

Rooted in lived experience and memories of the Zimbabwean landscape, Safari treats land as both teacher and memory. Earthly tones, fluid silhouettes, and tactile textures translate soil, sky, and water into garments that move with the body, emphasising how landscape shapes perception, movement, and identity.

JERMAINE BLEU

The Heritage – TWA ME FOTO (Jermaine Bleu, “Take a Picture of Me”)

Inspired by memories of his late mother, Twa Me Foto centres on familial inheritance and the cultural significance of traditional Ghanaian dress. Jermaine Bleu reinterprets kente through contemporary silhouettes while preserving its ceremonial meaning. Handcrafted techniques honour the care traditionally given to ceremonial garments, highlighting heritage, memory, and visibility.

The presentation integrates live runway and film elements, offering a layered storytelling experience that highlights each designer’s personal narrative.
