Taylor Swift Does ‘Midnights’ Glam In Alexandre Vauthier At The 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards
Taylor Swift made the whole place shimmer at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The star attended the awards show on March 27 wearing a jumpsuit — but, of course, it was no ordinary jumpsuit. The Alexandre Vauthier Couture creation was covered in green and blue crystals, which gave the piece an emerald shine. The fabric of the jumpsuit left room for the ruffled waistline to move as she walked, which made it feel bold yet graceful.
The piece featured a statement-making plunge V-neck and built-in pointy toes. However, the star of the ‘fit was undoubtedly the slouchy hood, which the singer kept up throughout the evening with some of her now-long blonde hair peeking through.
Though Taylor kept the hood up for the event, that did not mean she neglected the accessories. Though barely visible, the star rocked dramatic earrings, namely the Allora ear pin by Kat Kim, and gold rings for the night. She also kept her glam simple, focusing on a subtle smokey eye and short nail manicure that perfectly matched her dress.
Fans across the internet are theorizing that the outfit choice for the event could be a hidden message, as it reminds them of Taylor’s Reputation era. The ensemble is similar to what she wore on stage during the opening numbers of the Reputation stadium tour and in the “End Game” music video, which could be interpreted as an Easter egg of sorts. However, the jumpsuit is also reminiscent of another outfit from the Midnights era: the hooded cape featured in the “Bejeweled” music video. Taylor is never one to divulge information openly, so we’ll never know the inspiration for sure.
We might never know if the outfit was an Easter egg or not, but we do know Taylor had a big night. She won Artist of the Year and took home the Song of the Year award for “Anti-Hero.” In addition, her singer-songwriter friend, collaborator, and Eras tour opener, Phoebe Bridgers, presented her with the Innovator Award, where she gave a heartfelt speech. “I really want everyone to know, especially young people, that the hundreds and thousands of dumb ideas that I’ve had are what led me to my good ideas,” the singer said while accepting the Innovator Award. “I try as hard as I can not to fail because it’s embarrassing, but I do give myself permission to, and you should, too.”
