Wizkid to Open Detty December Fest 2026 as Lagos’ 13-Day, Two-Stage Festival Returns
Detty December Fest, one of Africa’s fastest-growing live music festivals, will return to Lagos from 18-30 December 2026, with Wizkid announced as the headliner of the Grand Opening Concert on Friday 18 December, Day 1 of 13, on the Detty Festival Stage, as the festival unveils an expanded two-stage experience.
The announcement follows a landmark inaugural edition that attracted more than 40,000 festivalgoers to Ilubirin across its run, bringing together global and African music stars including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Juma Jux, Diamond Platnumz, Wande Coal, Phyno, Fave, Young Jonn, Qing Madi, Ice Prince and more. In its first year, Detty December Fest established itself as one of the defining moments of Lagos’ festive calendar and a new destination for Africa’s live entertainment experiences.
For an artist whose music has taken Afrobeats to audiences around the world, Wizkid opening Detty December Fest is a fitting homecoming, returning to the city that shaped his sound at a time when Lagos has become one of the world’s defining cultural destinations each December. His announcement as the festival’s first confirmed headliner signals the scale of this year’s edition, with additional artists to be revealed in the coming months.
The festival returns at a time when Detty December, widely known as “Africa’s Real Summer”, has evolved into one of the continent’s most significant cultural and economic moments. According to the MO Africa Company report The Economics of Euphoria: Lagos’ Detty December 2025, the 2025 season generated an estimated ₦396.5 billion in consumer spending across Lagos and attracted millions of visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora. The scale of the season also prompted the Federal Government to establish a Presidential Task Force to coordinate aviation, tourism, security and power throughout the festive period.
Building on the momentum of its debut, Detty December Fest 2026 expands into a two-stage festival experience across thirteen days:

Detty Festival Stage
The festival’s flagship stage, home to this year’s headline performances, opened by Wizkid at the Grand Opening Concert on 18 December.
Detty Pulse Stage
The festival’s daily heartbeat: nightlife, culture nights and seasonal programming running across all thirteen days, alongside a dedicated platform for the next generation of African talent performing on the same site as the biggest names in music.
Deola Art Alade, Founder and Group CEO, The 360Co, said:
Last year proved there was a real appetite for a festival of this scale in Lagos. This year we’re building on that momentum, not just by growing the festival, but by creating more opportunities for artists, brands and audiences to experience the best of African culture together. Thirteen days, one festival: this is December, done properly.
Dare Art Alade, Co-Founder and Group Chief Creative Officer, The 360Co, added:
African music has never been more influential globally, and we believe our festivals should reflect that ambition. The Detty Pulse Stage is what keeps the festival alive across all thirteen days, and what excites me most is that it also puts the next generation of artists on the same site as some of the biggest names in music. That’s how ecosystems grow.
Across thirteen days, festivalgoers can expect headline concerts, aerial shows, emerging talent showcases, immersive brand experiences, food and lifestyle activations, DJ-led nights, nightlife programming and family-friendly attractions, including a Christmas Grotto, Gen Z Republik and pop-up market stalls, alongside curated experiences celebrating the creativity, energy and global appeal of Lagos during its most anticipated season.
Livespot has spent more than a decade producing some of Africa’s most significant live entertainment moments, including bringing Cardi B to the continent for her first performances in Nigeria and Ghana, while helping establish Lagos as a destination for world-class live experiences. Detty December Fest represents the company’s continued investment in building world-class live experiences with Africa at their centre.
As Lagos prepares to welcome the world once again this December, Detty December Fest returns as one of the defining celebrations of African music, culture and homecoming.
